Elder Holland

Hello Everyone 

 

 

This week was great ! We have found 10 new people to teach and 9 came to church ! It's been amazing. We haven't been able to contact our friend who is on baptism date, so we have been a little down about that. However we met with his wife which was a miracle because she hasn't been very receptive to us. Before we drove to their house we said a prayer asking for a miracle. Prayers were answered as she let us in and let us pray with her and gave her a message. I feel like her heart was opened. It may seem small but to us it was a blessing.  

 

 

HUGE highlight this week was a special devotional given by Elder Holland via zoom to our entire mission. He has such a funny sense of humor and spoke to us with such power ! I'll never forget it.  One thing he spoke about was how much our mission president and his wife sacrifice to come and service us missionaries. They leave their jobs , family, homes etc. to go and serve. He went on to say what a wonderful site to see all us missionaries who have given up so much and put life on hold  to come and serve the lord. He said he wants us to continue to be missionaries our entire lives. " We can always be missionaries and there is always work to do in this life and the next!"  I took about 7 pages of notes ! What a special experience for me to hear an apostle of the Lord speak directly to me. Definitely a highlight of my mission I won't  ever forget. 

 

 

Sister Ivins, my trainer, is getting transferred tomorrow ! I'm going to miss her SO MUCH ! I LOVE HER WITH ALL MY HEART & she has taught me SO MUCH! I'll be getting my new comp tomorrow.

Hello Everyone     This week has been awesome. We've been busy finding new friends and working in the office, I'm amazed at how we are able to accomplish our goals each week. On Saturday we received a referral and went to visit the family, however when we arrived at the apartment the man that answered the door said we had the wrong address. Of course we didn't turn away but we shared a message with him and invited him to church Sunday. We were surprised when we saw him walk in the doors Sunday. I was SO EXCITED ! I know the Lord has a plan for everyone and this young man took a leap of faith from what little he knew about the church, he felt something and wanted to learn more. It's hard sometimes to get our friends to come to church but then little miracles happen like this and I'm reminded that this is the Lord's work and our job as missionaries is to help people feel the spirit. I'm excited to teach him and help him recognize the spirit. I'll keep you ...

2 Baptisms & Christmas!

Hello Everyone   So many great things happened the last few weeks, First of all we had 2 baptisms last week !  Pablo got baptized and we are so happy for him! He is such a light ! He wants to serve a mission and has such a strong testimony. His baptism was scheduled for sunday but he was leaving town to go work and so we hurried and got his baptism together in 3 hours !  Then are friend Kevin was baptized by his father. His family is so humble and kind. I was so grateful to be a part of his special day.    We are teaching a really great family and they had a daughter that just turned 8 so they invited us to her party. I Love to teach these little girls. It's been so fun to watch them learn about the gospel. My companion and I made a ton of sugar cookie cut outs and used them in our lessons for the kids & they love it !  I can't get away from making cookies haha  We are also teaching a neat...

6 MONTHS!!!

Hola!     Well I'm at my 6 month mark and I can't even believe it ! Time flies when you're  having fun !!      San Jose is the place to be and I'm enjoying my new assignment. The office has been pretty great so far, very different from what I'm used to but I'm learning the ropes fast. It's amazing what the church is doing with social media these days, we are able to reach so many people this way. I've been put in charge of the instagram(Spanish page) for our mission. I also instruct other missionaries on the use of their instagram page, and help them learn how to share the gospel on social media. It's been a unique part of the mission so far! We are still teaching some great people here in San Jose and I'm excited when we get to leave the office to  go teach ! My new companion is Hermana Yoder from Boise Idaho. She's super cute ! She produces all  the spanish videos for the social media pages and I'm her sidekick :)      I LOVE bein...
