Baptism & Transfer To Salinas

Hello Everyone !

SO much going on and lots to tell you ! First of all our friend Leonel got baptized !!!!! We met him outside his apartment complex, my companion and i were talking to someone else and he caught my eye. I immediately felt prompted to go talk to him. I walked over, introduced myself and invited him to church and the rest is history from there. He is from Honduras and is a single Dad. His little boy is 4 and the cutest ! He is so happy and excited to be a member of the church. I was a little sad to leave him but I know he is in good hands now ! I got transferred to Salinas which I was super super excited about. Hard to leave San Jose and all the wonderful people ! I was there for 8 months !!! it was super hard to say goodbye :(

My new companion, Sister Wilkerson is from Las Vegas. She's super cute and sweet ! She's been out for 3 months and I'm excited to work with her. Salinas is a small town with a much slower pace of things which I love ! It's an agricultural town and they grow all your strawberries ! fields and fields of beautiful strawberries. Most of the people work in the fields either as pickers or in packaging. I've only been here a few weeks and have had some amazing experiences.   We are teaching several people from Oaxaca Mexico. In Oaxaca Mexico there is a middle american indian population living in the northern and west sections of the state. They speak Mixteco so spanish is their second language! I'm trying to learn some words in mixteco .The only way to describe it is that it sounds like chinese! It's been a good challenge to try to learn their language !

The other day we were walking to an appointment and I saw a young girl who looked so sad we walked over to her and she was crying ,like balling. We gave her a hug and she told us she was going through some hard times. She had a recent death in her family and she has been struggling.   I'm grateful that God put us in her path that night. I know that God puts certain people in our paths either to help them or to help us!!

There are always so many people out on the streets selling food in their carts. It's such a great opportunity to meet new people and taste their yummy food !!

We also put 2 people on baptism dates this week so that's exciting.

Our mission president arranged for all us missionaries to attend the Oakland temple last week, it was such a great experience for me. I haven't been able to attend the temple since I went through it myself over a year ago so this was extra special for me .I love the temple and I can't wait to attend more regularly !

I hope you all have a wonderful week !

Lots of love ,
Hermana Green
